Peter says Hi
Peter the teddy bear from Chad Valley has lived a very good life in my Hug. He has been one of the bigger bears standing at the back in his doll stand.
He’s in pretty good condition considering that a child has loved him very much. Only one of his paw pads needs some attention and that is the one in the photograph which shows his Chad Valley Label. An extra photo from the Chad Valley Teddy Bear museum shows that this label tells you that this bear is from 1953 and onwards for a short while. THIS IS NOT PETERS PAW BUT A PHOTO FROM THE MUSEUM
I have included photos of him nekkid (blushes) so that you can see that his beautiful golden mohair is pretty much intact.
Places where he has been loved are; his upper right arm is a little squashed soft from where his has been carried, just like Christopher Robin carries Pooh. The mohair either side of his nose is a little rubbed, but his hand stitched nose and mouth are fine. His face has been given lots of kisses and squeezes, because his eyes are lose.
I must admit that I bought Peter as a project before he was going into my hug but I have lost the strength needed in my hands to fis him properly, so he has just stood at the back waiting his turn, but I am downsizing and having to say goodbye to many of my bears.
He has displayed well and I notice when photographing him that he looks pretty good sitting down as well as standing at the back, poor lad.
In summary, he’s a very nice bear for someone to have their first go at being a teddy bear hospital but doesn’t need a lot of work, eyes, and a paw repair will see him right. You could retuff his right arm but I like that it shows where he was carried about. He shows signs of having had a growler and that could be replaced when you do his eyes maybe, or just leave him as he is and love him some more.
Please note I am a disabled person who is downsizing home. I cannot always get to the post as quickly as I would like to, which is why I have a five day posting time, however, I will endeavour to post as soon as I am able. I note that the Post Office now collects from home so if I am well enough to parcel items up, Ill arrange that.
