A rare, original Steiff Jackie Jubilee Teddy, made for only two years from 1953-55. This was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Steiff registering their early famous design – Bear 55PB – at Heidenheim district court, Germany, in 1903. Jackie was a new and novel creation, and became one of the most loved designs produced by Steiff.
Available in three regular sizes, this Jackie is the middle size at 25 cms (10″) tall. Larger 75 cm versions were also made as showpieces. Although missing her ID, Jackie is in outstanding condition. Distinctively round and chubby, with stumpy short legs and big feet, she has back-painted amber glass eyes and a brown-embroidered nose, mouth and claws. The signature horizontal pink stitch highlighting her nose has broken away, and only tufts remain.
Woodwool-stuffed and five-way jointed, Jackie has full blonde mohair coverage, plus a cute airbrushed belly button. This special teddy is wearing a vintage felt pinafore dress, and wooden beaded name necklace. Thanks for looking.
