Old Vintage Antique Teddy Bear. Miniature Mascot Vintage Teddy BearMalcolm is a characterful 6 inch vintage teddy bear with a history. I think he dates to the 1940s but cannot be sure of this. It is also quite possible that he was either a mascot bear for the troops, or for an evacuee child to put in his pocket. I was told that his original owner was born in the 1920s. Again, these are my thoughts, and I am no bear expert ! Anyway, he is souvenir, or pocket sized, and as can be seen in some of the photos, he has ” been through the wars”.Malcolm has blue glass eyes and a stitched nose and mouth. His fur is brown and white, quite patchy and moth eaten. It feels like a nylon plush. He is four way jointed with a fixed head. There are visible stitches in black thread to his ears, joints and feet, and his back has visible white seam threads. Malcolm is hard stuffed throughout, and a very tiny panda type bear. Malcolm definitely shows signs of age and lovewear, and is not intended to be used as a toy as he does not have the safety features associated with modern teddy bears.
