Old Vintage Antique Teddy Bear. Chad Valley Vintage Old Teddy Bear.Derek is a dear old 19 inch vintage teddy bear made by the English company Chad Valley and dates from the 1950s or so. His labels are faded and worn but both are well attached, one to his foot and one to his side under his right arm.Derek is filled with a mixture of kapok and wood wool to his torso, he is kapok filled to the limbs and has a straw filled head. His big eyes are made of glass, and look to be original, and he has hand stitched features with some of his nose stitching being a bit loose.His paws are made of rexine and look marbled as they are quite worn and cracked. Derek is five way jointed with good disk jointed connections, however his head is a bit floppy as may be expected with age. He is larger than the average teddy bear, standing at close to 19 inches tall.All these features are typical of an old bear with a story to tell…He is no longer suitable as a toy.
