1920’s ‘Wilfred Rabbit’ soft toy from the Pip, Squeak & Wilfred cartoon.
Fab little Wilfred Rabbit dating from the 1920’s and based on the rabbit from the Pip, Squeak and Wilfred cartoon strip. These soft toys are generally thought to be made by Farnell although Wilfred no longer has any labels
This Wilfred is a great example of these early toys with all his original features intact and no damage other than slight thinning to his mohair plush, but I would estimate he has retained a good 90%+ coverage overall. He stands at 7″ tall to the top of his head, with his long ears adding an additional 4″ and is completely wood wool stuffed with jointed arms. His painted back glass eyes, pink nose and mouth stitching and horse hair whiskers are all original and he is a sturdy little toy and is able to easily sit up on his haunches without toppling over.
