Norah Wellings 1920’s-30’s velvet plush/mohair Knutto monkey.
Standing at 13″ tall with brown velvet body and mohair/alpaca plush, head and tail this soulful looking monkey was made by Norah Wellings circa 1920-1930 and is in good period condition with all his original features intact. I think he is known as a Knutto monkey and he is firmly stuffed with kapok in his body and wood wool in his head,which is jointed so he can be nicely posed. The velvet has discoloured with a few small spots/marks and some neat home repairs to his wrists and the mohair on his head and tail is thinning with some small bare patches but nothing that detracts from his charm and character and he would make a lovely addition to any soft toy or monkey collection. I have seen other Wellings Knutto monkeys, but they are not common and this is the only one that is currently on eBay.
