English Chiltern or possibly an Australian bear? 1940’s.
This charming little 1940’s teddy bear is a bit of a mystery as his body has all the hallmarks of Chiltern bear from the 1930’s or 40’s but his sloping muzzle and stitched leather nose make me think he might be Australian as he also looks a little like a koala bear! There is also afaint shadow on his left foot pad where there was once a long rectangular label.
He is 12″ tall and five ways jointed with all his joints working smoothly so he can be nicely
posed and is in good original condition with all his orignal features intact and a good coverageof his rich golden mohair with only slight thinning and a couple of small bare spots. There area couple of broken stitches holding his nose on and his left velvet paw pad has split by hiswrist but there are no other significant damages. Whoever made him, he is cute little chap
and would make a fabulous addition to any hug or collection of soft toys and bears.
