Mr Picnic- Deans Ragbook Mouse Eared Teddy Bear
This is Mr Picnic! Oh my word he’s a cute sausage!!! He’s a late 1940s/early 1950s Mouse eared Teddy Bear made by the English company Deans Rag Book. He stands around 12 inches tall, is fully jointed and stuffed with woodwool and kapok. He retains his original felt pads – which are worn and patchy, and his original facial stitching. His eyes puzzle me as they look original to him.. but they’re a plastic type material but appear to have painted backs to them? I thought initially they were replacement, but i’m not so sure now .. and Mr Picnic doesn’t have any complaints about them. Mr Picnic is a funny poppet and comes along with his very own vintage “blanket” and basket which fits him perfectly, and I think he’s been with it for an awfully long time. I think a loving previous owner wanted to keep him safe. Mr Picnic enjoys his basket and blanket – he uses them for naps and picnics! This ted would be perfect for a collector who enjoys teddies who have been well loved, and have a tale to tell. I think he’s rather special and I hope Mr P (and his basket) find a happy home to sit in :-).He will travel to his new home dressed in his vintage knitted outfit ready to settle in.
