Marmalade…Wonderful antique Chad Valley teddy bear.Dating circa 1930.Measuring a lovely large size 26″ from pads to tips of ears.Five way jointed and all joints turn and are firm.Feels to be stuffed with a mixture of kapok & wood wool.In op squeaker to lower tummy.Large brown glass eyes which maybe old replacements.Original nose and mouth stitching intact showing some wear.Please note the fabric to the left side of snout shows some holes,weak fabric and damage.Please study the image.Feet pads are card lined and most of his original felt pads are in good sturdy condition,with some old repairs and one hand pad partially recovered in darker brown felt.Retaining five claw stitches to feet pads with two loose.One hand pad has one claw stitch intact.Teddy has wonderful proportions with long arms,chunky legs and slight hump.Retaining celluloid button to the left ear which reads “Chad Valley British Hygienic toys”As images show there is an overall very good coverage of thick golden mohair with some areas of wear including to the folds in his legs and area by tops of arms.For a bear nearly 90 years old Marmalade is quite lovely…. even through his imperfections.No nasty odours and from smoke free home.Wonderful character.Any questions please ask..
