A cute, early miniature humpbacked Steiff teddy, with a long pointy muzzle dating to around 1915. He’s missing his earbutton, and also his nose and mouth stitching, and was made without pads. Woodwool-stuffed and fully-jointed, his shoebutton eyes are original, though for some reason they look bigger in my photos than they really are!
There’s some settlement of stuffing in his torso and hump, and he’s quite bald in paces, but still has a reasonable sprinkling of gold mohair. Apart from a small sewn repair to the back of one leg, close to his joint, he’s a lovely sturdy bear.
This delightful mousy-nosed character is dressed in his vintage German dungarees, decorated with a motif of two teddies and the words: ‘Mein besten freund’ – which translated means ‘my best friend’. Thanks for looking – the leather stud box is a prop only and not included in the listing.
