Lino a German Gucci Bear Gebruder Bing 33 cm Ltd Ed.   63/100.

Lino is a beautifully made Art Bear by this famous German  Bear making company. He is in Mint condition and comes with full certification. This Vintage Bing Bear presents a wonderful characterful image. He is made of  white short mohair and has five working joints. He has a fully working growler which is quite loud! He has black boot button eyes and the black stitiching on his nose is vertical. His paws which are beige suede, all have three black stitches and his foot pads have reinforced cardboard inserts. He is wearing a Navy gaberdine coat with a little red handkerchief in the top left pocket. The three buttons are gold coloured. His accessory of a travelling bag with  wheels compliments his outfit. All these accessories were made by Gucci as mentioned on his personal tag. A Limited edition of 63 of only 100, his certificate of authenticity is attached to his left foot. There is another larger certificate within his box. This bear although vintage is ex shop stock and has never actually even been on display. He has always remained in his box. This bear is so rare – find me another one and as such he is a wonderful example of a Bing Art Bear. He’s looking for someone who appreciates his qualities.

The tale of Bing’s current revival in the 1990s
Gebruder Bing was founded in Nuremberg in 1865 by Ignaz and Adolf Bing to make tin and kitchenware and later enameled and tin toys around 1890. They made their first bears in 1907 at the height of the teddy bear boom. The first Bing bears had a metal arrow in the ear with the initials G.B.N. set in a diamond. Steiff started litigation against Bing for using the tag in the ear, so Bing put a metal button underneath the arm instead. Steiff still objected to the word button, so Bing instead used G.B.N. label under the arm. Around 1920, Bing stopped using the tag and replaced it with a metal label attached to the right arm.
