This lovely bear is possibly a Farnell bear but unsure as when I asked professional advice they couldn’t confirm that although he has the usual features of that toy makers …he was purchased in 1960, ready for my arrival by my grandparents but both have sadly passed now so unable to find out. He doesn’t have a label anywhere. He stands 24 inches from top of his ears to the paws on his legs and 11inches wide shoulder to shoulder. He is an unusual colour, I’ve not seen another one, not golden but brown, like coffee with milk.He is a truly handsome boy with a wonderful face and great stance. He has a growler but it doesn’t growl any more, he has one eye, one has been long lost, his left ear has a little loose stitching where it joins his forehead. I could repair it but want to leave it original . His head lolls around but I believe this is the way it is intended, it means it rests forward or from side to side. A real character and I do still love him, he has been with me fifty seven years in eight residences and yet I now feel he should bring someone else joy. I don’t want him to deteriorate, as a child I dragged him around by an arm, leg and possibly an ear when he seemed so much bigger than I, but for some years he has simply sat in a chair upstairs looking towards the bed. He has been dressed up, pushed in a pram, attended tea parties and taken on trips. I know someone out there is going to love him very much. His tough cotton paw pads are pink, look scruffy I’m afraid and yet still in good condition. His fur is good coverage with no bald patches and the embroidered nose and mouth is still black and intact.
He is fully jointed and filled with woolrock. He is a good sitter and nothing’s misses his one good eye. There is no significant settling of the stuffing inside him.
I have started the bidding quite high to reflect his rarity, like I say, he’s not the usual golden bear.If you wish me post him overseas, please be aware that will be expensive as he will be a large parcel and with insurance can easily be 55 plus depending on which country.
