A gorgeous little soft toy Elephant in mohair style. There is no makers mark so age and origin is unknown.
Although other vintage Steiff elephants has the stud on the left side, similar ‘double eyes’ white the grey with black pupil, felt tusks also the ears have similar shape. Although I am by no means certain. Someone out there in the eBay community will know.Interestingly s/he is Two tone grey as oppose to the normal uniformly coloured elephants.
Good quality and very expressive. The red felt spots is probably remnant of a ‘saddle or blanket’. The right ear is pointing stubbornly forward. He or she is very stuffed and quite hard not very cuddly. The trunk is quite rigid.
A bit worn on the surface material. Please look at the photographs in addition to description and for condition.
Overall a lovely and expressive collectors elephant.
Size: 12 cm tall on the head 9 cm at the back, 13 cm long and 5 cm wide.
