Scaling down my collection a little, so poor Vinny must go (named after Vincent Van Gogh due to his left ear being gone!)

Please see all the pics as they add to the description and form a very large part of it, I reiterate what I say above in the condition report, namely:

“I think Vinny may have been the victim of a dog attack in the past, missing one ear, glass eyes broken and only half of each remains. There are some teeth related holes and other damage, some of which has been carefully patched. His wool/mohair plush is superb though and he’s a good strong chap in every other respect. He also still growls quite loudly at times, but is friendly. Lovely face, despite his issues!”

To add to that, he is a very nice size, 17″ approximately, plump, and with a lovely coat. I think it’s mohair, although it does seem more ‘wooly’ than normal. Farnell did do some white bears in this type of plush. I gave him a very careful surface wash and he is now spotlessly clean and smells beautiful, although obviously, his age means he’s not exactly a bright white!

Both eyes are original, what remains of them, and glass. Very clearly behind them I can see the glue that they used on early bears, to hold them in place, as they will be on wire spikes and liable to fall out easily otherwise. He has claw stitching on paws and feet that seem to all be there, and in matching thread to that which is used on his nose/mouth (difficult to photograph due to his thick fur and the pale colour)

Also possibly difficult to see in the pics is the careful patching that has been done to the ‘wounds’ from the dog attack. This is where his left ear would have been, and to the right of his nose. There are also what look like puncture wounds to the back of his remaining ear, and at the top/back of both arms, but they aren’t particularly noticeable, due to his colour, and the fabric remains very strong. His pads are slightly aged but strong too, and seem to be a type of linen or pale rexine (again, see pics)

Can you give Vinny a sympathetic home in time for Christmas?

Thanks for looking, and good luck if you decide to bid for him….
