FAMOUS- Colin Old Merrythought Teddy Bear Antique feat in Pauline Cockrill Book
This is Colin! He is a 1930’s “alternative design” Teddy Bear made by Merrythought. He comes along with his very own provenance -he’s a famous model ted! Colin was featured on the front cover & inside of The Ultimate Teddy Bear Book (p54), and also in The Teddy Bear Encyclopaedia (p61) both by Pauline Cockrill. I have left Colin exactly as he is rather than cleaning him, this means that he ties in completely with how he was photographed when he was kept in The Peterfield Teddy Bear & Doll Museum.All his details can be seen on the photographs i’ve taken of the books, however, briefly, Colin is an alternative design Ted as Merrythought wanted to try a new bear shape. He is around 20inches tall, stuffed with woodwool and kapok, has glass eyes, stitched nose, excellent cotton twill pads with stitching, and retains his Merrythought label and Merrythought button to his back.Colin can be seen next to his fellow famous TeddyChum Bingie in the book, who is also looking for a home! He is a very friendly looking teddy and would make a wonderful addition to any hug as the special “famous one”.
– please note as mentioned i haven’t cleaned him so that he ties in with his photographs, however i am happy to clean him prior to dispatch if requested beforehand.
