Chumley: Large (28 Inches) Chad Valley – Big Beautiful Old Teddy Bear – 1950s
Chumley is a very fluffy, English Chad Valley teddy bear, dating from around the mid 1950s.He’s a whopper of a bear and stands around 28 inches (72 cm) tall.He is fully jointed and stuffed with woodwool and kapok. All his pads are original rexine, and are in good shape except for a few cracks.He has the typical bulbous black nose stitching of Chad Valley teddies, along with a big head and large flat ears.He has lost his foot label but it’s clear to see where it once was on his right foot and he also has the centre seam on his head which is harder to find on these bears.He’s got a lovely loud growl when shaken and his plush is in very good condition – not matted together at all.If I’m been ridiculously picky, I could say that his leg joints are a little loose and towards the top of his right arm he has a small area where he’s lost some stuffing from being repeatedly picked up and carried by a child, but really he’s in great condition, and all original.All in all, Chumley is a BIG heavy bear who feels great to hug and hold, and is also in good enough condition to display.He’s pictured with his teddy chums, Petula Pinks and Chubbs – both available separately in my other listings.All offers considered and I always combine postage costs where applicable.
