A stunning, vibrant orange mohair Jopi bear c.1920s. Known as Suma (as in tangerine!), she’s all original with back-painted glass eyes, now worn mostly clear. Suma measures 33 cms (13″) tall, and woodwool-stuffed. Her features are embroidered in black thread, and most of her claws are intact with a few having come adrift. Suma’s original felt footpads are in good condition – one is near minty – while both paws have patched repairs. Her joints work fine, but her growler has packed up.
There’s a little settlement of stuffing in her arms and legs but, overall, Suma is a lovely sturdy bear with masses of luscious fur. This beautiful, happy smiling character is dressed for Christmas in her sparkly white knitted outfit, pinned with a vintage brooch, plus tangerine jumper. Thanks for looking.
