This gorgeous, quite large, but not too huge sized Chad Valley teddy bear probably dates from their production era 1938 to 1953, and has a faded blue label to his foot, plus another one under his right arm. These can be seen in the photos.
This particular, and very popular Chad design was made in different types of mohair and I have included a picture (from Sue Pearson’s book) of a similar aged Chad Valley teddy, but the Chad in Sue’s book is made from a smoother pile mohair and you will see my teddy has honey coloured curly mohair.
Ted is in very good, clean and fresh smelling condition, but he is not 100% ‘as new’ condition and has a couple of patchy places of fur loss to his legs.
I have additional photographs of this wonderful teddy bear, so if anyone requires more pictures, please just let me know.
