~Basil | 1930’s Large 27″ Farnell Bear
This is Basil. Oh Basil is lovely. He’s a very large (27inch toe to ear) bear made by the British company Farnell in the 1930’s. He is what would think of as a special bear, he’s so huggable and just brims with the feel of having been on adventures over the last 80+ years! He is fully jointed, and stuffed with woodwool. He retains his original large painted back glass eyes and original facial and claw stitching (though his pads have been recovered at some point, and we haven’t removed to look what is underneath as we rather like the velour covering).Farnell bears are hard to find in good condition in a large size, this is what makes Basil so special. He’s shown here with his friend Teddy Tuck who is also looking for a new home!
