A superb old bear which belonged to our late grandmother, now needing a nice new home.
Here is a really very pretty antique / vintage lady teddy bear in a superb soft, pink, long, slightly curly mohair. About 17″ tall. She is wearing an old/vintage cotton petticoat and a cotton hat. Not sure of make of this bear but hopefully someone will know?
Smallish ears, a neatly stitched seam to front of tummy (please see photos). Lovely large original glass eyes, clear with black pupils, stitched nose, mouth and claws, look to be original brown fabric/resin? pads on her big feet and paws. Hump to back, movable arms and legs and head.
Teddy is in good condition for her age. She does have some areas of wear , particularly on her arms, feet, pads and face. Circa 1930’s 1940’s we believe?
Pink Ted has been sitting on a shelf in an upstairs spare room at our gran’s house for many years and over this time the sunlight has obviously caused Ted’s lovely pink fur to become faded / discoloured on the front of her head / face area (please see photos). The remaining body has been protected by her petticoat and remains a beautiful original pink colour under the clothing (please see photos). Perhaps a specialist steam clean could sort this out? Make the bear look as good as new again. Apart from that the bear is wonderful – look at that lovely pink fur.
Head feels to be straw-filled, body and limbs feels like a softer filling.
Growls when tipped forward (usually works), quite faint sound.
We are not bear experts so please look at the photos and ask any questions you may have before bidding. Hope this gorgeous girl can find a good new home.
