This is a lovely antique – vintage toy kangeroo.
It is a soft toy with fur but the stuffing inside is packed tightly so it feels very firm and stands up on its own.
It has a music box inside that is wind-up and plays the tune Waltzing Matilda. Unfortunately, due to age the stitching has come loose in a few areas and the material has stretched so there is a lot of stuffing showing.
Split stitching above the knee and ears, and just starting to go on the upper short arms.
A single plastic eye is in situ the other is missing.
This needs a bit of care.
No maker’s marks or lables, may have been handmade because it’s not a usual kangeroo shape.
As mentioned, this toy does have some age wear including bust stitching, bald patches in the fur and even an eye missing. The key to the music box is bent slightly downwards but i’m not entirely sure if this is meant to be like that because it still winds easily and plays the tune.
It has a ribbon around its neck.
Cream fur on the underside and slightly darker brown on the back. Black plastic nose.
It has short arms.
It could do with a new home with some tender loving care!
It measures approx. 12 inches tall….between the front legs and the tail its nearly 11 inch.
