This is a charming stiff necked French bear that I bought from a well known dealer who thought that he was made around 1910. He is solidly stuffed with woodwool and has the classic long body of a French bear and boot button eyes plus the short mohair often seen on these bears . Also he is rod jointed and you can see the metal washers and coils of wire at the top of his arms and legs. He has been nibbled at by moths so check the photos carefully to see the holes in his nose and paw pads.
His left arm must have fallen off at some point as it is on back to front ! His claws are missing on his right paw and there is not much left on them on his left paw. The claws on his feet may be replacements.
