Antique Style 1950/60s German teddy bear, short dark golden mohair, 18 inches
This characterful boy is  a classical 1920/30 antique style German teddy bear made in the 1950/60s, with friendly looking amber glass eyes (original still) stitched into his head via a knot at the base of his head. He has short golden mohair, five fully working disk joints and is firmly stuffed with wood wool (excelsior). He can sit on his own, holds every pose perfectly and has a humpback, long snout and long arms.
All paws are original although a little stained and made of a soft fabric. He still has a working growler in his belly. The seams  appears to never have been opened and the bear is still in a very firm condition. The Nose and mouth stitches are in excellect condition this bear has been obviously very well loved and very well cared for in his long lifetime! He may have been restored but if he has been it has been done so professionally that there is absolutely no sign of restoration.
This antique style German teddy bear measures 18 inches in height and in sitting position he is 13.5 inches.
I do not know the exact date of his birth or even the name of his manufacturer, but I believe that this bear was manufactured in Thuringia, Germany, sometimes that there were times when indeed excellently manufactured products just didn’t necessarily need trademarking and the Thuringian teddy bear industry is a good example for this. And try as I will I cannot find another like him!
Please note that this bear is not a toy but for collectors only. Please check out my other items for sale
