ANCIENT & WONDERFUL ANTIQUE DOG, ORIGINAL BOOT BUTTON EYES, ORIGINAL COLLAR. CIRCA 1900

This adorable antique dog measures approx 12 1/2 inches in length (from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail) and approx 7 1/2 inches in height (from his front paws to the top of his head). He has no labels, tags, button, etc., to identity who made him, or if he’s home made. Although it’s impossible to identify him with any certainty, I don’t think he’s home made.I think that he is probably of British origin. He is extremely old,  but from the research I have done on him I think that he probably dates from the 19th century (1800’s).He’s unjointed (in a permanent standing position) and has no fur at all. He doesn’t appear to have ever had any fur, and is made of either linen or cotton cloth. I think that he was originally a pale cream colour, but due to his advanced age his cloth is now a light grey colour. He is stuffed entirely with wood wool, which is still very firm and evenly distributed.I don’t know what breed of dog he’s supposed to be.He has quite long ears, original black stitched nose and mouth, and original stitched in black boot button eyes. His eyes are slightly loose, hence his rather ‘wonky’ expression, but they are in no danger of falling out, and only make him look even more adorable. Most of his seam stitching in very good original condition, but he has very neat, stitched repairs to the base of his tail, a tiny darn just behind the top of his front left leg, small repaired split in his tummy just behind his front right leg, and a tiny darn to his right shoulder. None of the repairs are of recent date, and do not detract greatly from his undoubted charm. He also has a very small rub to both front paws (as is to be expected considering the number 0f years he’s been standing on them . . .  :) and a very small rubbed hole at the tip of his nose (probably a result of all the kisses he’s had over the years). He is still wearing his original little soft brown leather collar, fastened with a (replacement) antique green silk ribbon at the front.I don’t know exactly how old he is, but he is definitely very old and in my opinion he probably dates from the early 1900’s pre WW1. HE IS AN ADORABLE LITTLE CHARACTER WITH A GREAT DEAL OF CHARM.HE DISPLAYS VERY NICELY & WOULD BE A WONDERFUL ADDITION TO YOUR ANTIQUE DOG COLLECTION, OR AS A COMPANION FOR YOUR ANTIQUE BEAR. If you require any further details or photos please don’t hesitate to contact me. EXPERT & SECURE PACKAGING IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE. I DO NOT CHARGE FOR THE COST OF PACKAGING MATERIALS.ALL U.K. & WORLDWIDE POSTAGE PRICES ARE INCLUSIVE OF FULL TRACKING & INSURANCE.
