I am unsure, but I think that this may well be an Antique Felix the Cat Toy.He is early, dating I think to around 1910-possibly earlier- and he may well be English but I am not sure, as there are no identifying labels. The Black Cat stands approximately 7 inches high and weighs around 128 grams. He is filled with wood wool as there is a little visible to the neck area, which appears to have had a very historic repair. He has wonderful pale green and black glass eyes, one of which is a little loose, and an adorable hand stitched smiling mouth and nose. Both ears are intact as is the tail.He is able to sit unaided. His fur is Mohair and this is rubbed in places through being so well adored. This is definitely the earliest example of a Teddy Bear Black Cat that I have seen or sold, and he will make a charming addition to any Antique Toy collection.
