Antique late 1920’s/1930s stuffed soft toy Dobbin donkey made of black, plush synthetic fur fabric and tan beige colours and with linen fabric-covered button eyes.
A charming characterful soft toy. The donkey was a popular animal for early to mid 20th century children with Steiff producing their own models. The donkey trend continued popular up until the Muffin the Mule character in the 1950s.
This toy is a very well made heirloom – greatly loved and kept in my family since it was made new and handed down to me being the youngest in the family in my own childhood. From a pet-free no smoking household
Please Note: this toy is firmly stuffed with its original stuffing to the extent that it can be posed standing up. Be aware there is NO rigid supporting frame inside the legs and body to hold it up, It is standing up simply propped up against a cushion support.
Condition: Excellent condition for its age Very well looked after. The black fur is largely unfaded as it has been stored out of natural daylight in a dry household linens box. There is a slight greenish tone to some areas of the black fur to be expected for its age. Also note: A very small area of the inside ear fur is bald with loss of furry surface as a sign of natural wear – see photo

Tail = 5 inches long
Ears = 5 & 1/2 inches long
