Welly | Rare 1930’s Norah Wellings Dog – Old Antique Teddy Bear Pal w/ label
This is Welly. He was made by Norah Wellings in the 1930’s and measures around 14inches in a seated position. He is stuffed with woodwool and kapok with glass eyes, stitched facial features and claws, with a jointed head.
He is a more rare Norah Wellings design, as she mainly focused on dolls, and didn’t design many dogs. During the 1930’s there was a serious interest in dog soft toys, so Norah obviously decided to design some herself.
He has been created with wavy shaggy blonde mohair, which could definitely be brushed out to fluff up if preferred, and also retains his label securely secured to his bottom.
Sadly my photographs don’t do him justice but he’s a lovely cute dog with a cheery face, and compliments a hug!
He is shown here giving kisses to his bear friend Noel who is also available for a new home, list separately.
Please note, this item is not a toy, and is suitable for adult collectors only.
