Meet Olive, Kay and Mitsy, three dear old bears who are all made of a similar sort of fur – a shorter pile, rougher sort of fur than mohair, but Im not sure what it is. I think all three bears could be handmade and when I bought Olive, I was told that she was made during WW2 – cant verify this, though. Olive is the larger of the three at 21. Her arms and legs are jointed (and all moving) but her head is fixed in position. Her paw pads and inner ears are made from an olive green velvet, a bit faded in places and shes firmly stuffed throughout – doesnt feel like wood wool. Her brown glass eyes are replacements, but her nose and mouth stitching looks to be original. She has a few small bald areas on the backs of her legs and little bald patches here and there, but she has the majority of her fur remaining. The top seam on each leg may have been redone at some point. Kay is the middle-sized bear at 13. Shes very firmly stuffed and is fully jointed (all moving smoothly). Her dark amber glass eyes look to be original, but Im not sure about nose and mouth stitching or claws. Her paw pads have been recovered in beige felt. She has a few worn/bald patches (very few) and her two front seams on her tummy have been restitched at some point, I think. Mitsy is the smallest bear. She is unjointed but designed to sit down. Shes 9 1/2 tall and feels a bit like shes been made from a woollen fabric. Shes firmly stuffed and has eyes and nose made of black fabric and a little black stitched mouth. These are three sweet bears who are looking for a new home together.Really sorry, will only post within the UK – no international postage.
