Meet Dexter, a lovely Merrythought tiger, produced exclusively for Harrods in, I believe, the 1960s. He is in good condition, although the whiter areas of his fur are perhaps a little dusty/grey. His dark orange plush fur with slim black (painted on?) stripes is in good condition, too, with just a small area on his back where it looks like the seam might just have been stitched up – this is very faint, though. His tail is wired, so can be repositioned. There are some small stains on his foot pads, possibly just where he’s been standing on a shelf, and he has all his claw stitching. The white fur on his chin is a little patchy and his tiger ‘sideburns’ could do with careful teasing out with a brush. He is very solidly stuffed which makes him stand upright very well. He has original amber plastic (I think) eyes and his original nose and charming whiskers. His green Merrythought label is on his tummy and reads ‘Made exclusively for Harrods by Merrythought England’. I haven’t seen another one like him.
