Vintage teddy bear Lefray, 1950/60s. Condition is Used. Dispatched with Royal Mail 2nd Class.
This delightful teddy bear is a lovely example of vintage Lefray teddies circa 1950-1960.
It is typically unjointed, made from plush fur fabric, the main body being mid brown with a white chest, nose and toe tips. The inner ears are dark brown.
It is stuffed with a composite stuffing and has plastic brown eyes and black plastic nose. It’s little red tongue is in tact and has a new dark red bow. The bear is in excellent condition which is rare to find these days.
It has its original side seam tag but has faded with time and wear( see photo). The bear stands appropriately 18″ high. He is super soft and ready for many cuddles! Or a great addition to a vintage teddy collection.
Lefray was established in London in 1948 going under the name Lefray Toys Ltd. They moved to St. Albans in Hertfordshire in 1960 for nine years before moving to their current location in Aberbeeg, Gwent in South Wales. The took over Real Soft Toys, another British manufacturer, in 1980 and produced toys under another label. Lefray was granted a license to produce a soft toy version of Rupert Bear which they still produce today.
