Very, very tatty old teddy bear.
Has been in the family for many years, and came to me via my grandma who had 5 children born from 1933 to 1951 – I think this bear was made in the 1930’s as he looks as though he’s been loved enthusiastically by many children!
This bear is called Biggy ( he had brothers called Littlie and Tiny who have sadly passed away) and measures 21 inches long. He is virtually bald on his head, body and arms, but oddly is still quite furry in his legs and ears. He has just one glass eye. Wood shavings are bursting through his thin fabric, and at some point in the 1950’s my nan carried out a rather strange repair to his cheeks with some fur fabric, which possibly came from another soft toy. My uncles also wrote rude words on his bottom at some point in time, which mercifully are no longer legible, but the marks remain.
Biggy is in very poor condition. I don’t know if he could be refurbished, or whether any of his parts could be used as transplants for another bear :(
