One of the very best of it’s kind…
Hardly seen on ebay this very rare 1940’s Merrythought Teddy is in fantastic condition having been carefully looked after for many years. This bear has spent a vast number of years locked away hency why there is very little wear or discolouration.
The label on lower right foot has a very slight tear but still looks great. Overall there is very little wear to the original print and all text can be clearly seen. The only minimal issues with this bear are the felt pads on paws show signs of minimal wear from moths over time where very small circular patches have been appeared. All patches are shown in photos and are visible on the lower left foot (under the label), left hand paw and tiny circle on right hand paw measuring only a couple of millimeters wide. There are no noticable marks or wear/tear to the rest of the bear.
The last picture within the gallery images shows the upper body & head. There are 2 vertical stitching lines either side of the head from front to back. Within these stitching lines/joins, hair is lacking making it appear that there is a gap within the hair line but this is not a fault and how the bear was produced although may have gradually decreased slightly more with age. There are other very small areas where hair is lacking around joins but this is completely normal. The top of head features a very small area of hair thats curls slightly.
All original features are perfectly intact just like the day it was made. Has lovely soft gold/light brown hair & movable joints. Pictures clearly illustrate the overall bear in a wonderful condition.
A single bell/ball is in either ear but the main ringing bell part is in the right ear only which I do not think is a fault but how these bears were made, although I could be wrong.
