Here’s an extremely rare, Dean’s Rag Book ‘Tru-to-Life Bear’, worn and loved but with heaps of character. He retains his original features, though his nose has most likely been topped up with some type of compound. Stuffed with woodwool, he measures 41 cms (16″) tall, and has a back seam label.
Typically, teddy has a jointed head and sewn limbs that enable him to playfully flop around. His paws and claws are made of rubber, and are in reasonably good condition, given they were found to become a little brittle, so Dean’s changed to using vinyl in the early 60s.
His locked-in safety eyes show some surface wear, but despite some baldy patches, he’s kept a great deal of his yellow-gold mohair. This unique and endearing character is wearing his handmade sailor jacket and period teddy bear teething ring. Thanks for looking x.
