being offered for sale my beautiful Antique 1920’s Plush felt wire framed stuffed little monkey toy.
He has hand sewn features on his face with small glass eyes with folded eye lids.
He has a very long tail and is holding a peeled felt banana his body is plush and his hands feet face and ears are velvet.
He has a closed body stance as if he is hanging on to a tree. As mentioned before he has a wire framed body and he is stuffed with what i think is kapok which also dates him to around 1920’s
His glass eyes also date him as early he is pre plastic eyes. His seams stitches are tiny so small they look like a mouse has sewn them.
He is around 8 inches in height and is in good condition considering his age he has been with me for a long time but i am clearing out. So he has to go to a new home he has a small seam opening on his shoulder and one to his hand this is easily remedied. However i think its gives character as you can see he has had a few repairs mainly at joins and seams he has no rips no tears.
The reason kapok stuffing was used it is moth resistant and damp resistant it is a fibre from a plant. Kapok early stuffed toys are much more solid than other stuffed toys. i have seen his stuffing and it looks like hair fibres which is what Kapock looks like after is has aged .
I hope this beautiful early toy goes to a good home as mentioned before he has been a much loved monkey
