A mega rare, beautiful Steiff cloth-bodied, dressed standing cat, with dangling arms and ‘ff’ earbutton, made only from 1931-40. Called Tabitha, she’s all original, and in lovely condition, wearing what I believe is her own dress. Her head swivels, and she stands 22 cms (8.5″) high on flat carded feet. Tabitha is stuffed with woodwool, apart from her floppy arms which are soft-filled. She has gorgeous, back-painted green glass eyes, and a peach embroidered nose and mouth. Her head is white mohair with grey airbrushed striped markings. The backs of her paws are mohair too, while her ears are peach felt with mohair linings. The soles of her feet are peach brushed cotton, now mostly worn smooth, and one foot has a dark scuff at the heel. Her claws are airbrushed in red.
There’s a voice box in her back but she no longer meows! Although she’s lost a little fur over time, Tabitha is nonetheless a very precious puss. I’ve given her a knitted teddy bear handbag as a photo prop, which she’ll take with her to her new home. Thanks for looking.
