This nearly antique burgundy coloured miniature silk plush teddy came from France with a little parcel of very old things including one or two toys which dated from around 1900 to late 1920’s at the latest so I imagine he is the same age – likely late 1920’s.

This cutie has jointed arms, legs and head, although the head barely turns anymore and is pretty well fixed into position. He measures just 3.25 inches – just over 8cms. The nose and mouth is original, stitched in dark red thread. The eyes are miniature glass beads, and he has a very faded original ribbon bow stitched at his neck. He is stuffed with something firm.

He is probably unique – possibly made by someone skilled in the home rather than a factory – I don’t actually know. Either way, he is a very charming old vintage bear for a collector. I’ve enjoyed having his funny little plum coloured self sitting amongst my bits and bobs. But he deserves a better home where someone can display him kindly, rather than sitting in a box on his own rattling about with with pens, antique playing cards, ribbons and buttons.

—————MAC—————A lovely unusual vintage Novelty toy heavy doorstop.Mac is a black mohair scottie dog.Heavy at 2 kgsCirca 1930`s / 1940`s.Possibly made by Farnell.Age related thinning and balding to mohair with bald areas to his foot and tail as seen in picture.Some areas of his mohair has faded slighty .He wears his original red ribbon.Made in a sitting position he is approx 9 inches tall x 12 inch in length.He is weighted in his back end. Straw filled head and body front.His front legs are wired,the left foot wire is just showing.
