This lovely 23″ panda teddy bear has such a wonderful expression, with a rather worried look on his face. I can’t identify him, but think he is probably an English bear. He has unusual nose stitching with distinctive end stitches which may help identify him.
The white bits are mohair, and I think the black parts are wool. I say white, but as is often the case this has discouloured to more of an off- white.
He has his original eyes which are clear glass with the remains of painted backs, dating him to c1930’s.
He is straw (wood wool) filled throughout, and has linen pads.
He does need some TLC though….as you can see, 3 of his pads have the wood wool exposed (the other hand pad is fine), and also his limb joints are rather loose, and swingy. Having said that , he can still sit up unaided, and hold a pose.
Pandas are always popular , and I think every teddy collector should have one in their collection.
With a little TLC, and maybe a bit of a clean, he could be a superb bear.
