A gorgeous cinnamon mohair bear, probably French c.1930s, with working musical bellows. Known as Bernie, he’s mostly kapok-stuffed, and stands 56 cms (22″) tall. Bernie has original black-embroidered features – the dropped outer stitches of his nose are hidden by his fur – while his amber glass eyes and felt pads are replacements. There’s a sewn repair to his neck at the front, close to his disc-joint, but his joints all work fine. Bernie has kept much of his mohair, with most loss to his torso where his music box has been squeezed. This plays a charming melody. Overall, he’s a lovable, cuddly character, wearing his handknitted cardi. Thanks for looking.
