A beautiful, rare jewel-eyed Schuco yes-no fox c.1920s. All original, including his metal-rimmed glasses, foxy is in lovely condition and has a working tail mechanism that when turned, makes his head swivel from left to right, showing off his alert, pointy-nosed profile.
Foxy measures 28 cms (11″) tall, excluding his black-rimmed ears. His limbs are jointed, though rather stiff. He’s stuffed with woodwool, and has linen pads in near minty condition, while his nose and mouth are embroidered in brown thread. His amazing, sparkling eyes are red faceted rhinestones set in metal mounts, and Schuco only made them for a short time.
There’s a few rust spots around Foxy’s neck; they’re from his metal yes-no mechanism, and he has a non-working squeaker. Although his dual plush gold and white mohair shows overall thinning, and one leg is mostly bald, Foxy is an exquisite character, dressed in his old flannel shirt with red velvet bow.
Please note the little book is a prop only and not included in the listing. Also, in a couple of the pics there’s a mark on his forehead which is actually a droplet of rain that dripped off an overhanging branch while I was photographing him!
