Compton 1920’s J.K. FarnellActual bear featured in Pauline Cockrill’s Teddy Bear Encyclopedia (page 10) and Ultimate Teddy Bear Book (page 52)
This is Compton, an early 1920’s 24″ Farnell bear with webbed paws that was a resident at the Petersfield Teddy Bear Museum until it closed in 2008. He has featured in both Pauline Cockrill’s books and a few others also including Judy Sparrow’s Teddy Bears. (Judy Sparrow ran the Petersfield Bear museum). Compton retains at least 80% of his long silky mohair and is stuffed with a mixture of wood wool and kapok with a non working squeaker. He has painted back glass eyes and is in excellent condition with all original felt pads and claw stitching. He has had some nose stitching added between photo shoots as he is missing a few stitches in Judy Sparrow’s book. Compton is one of a select few bears from the museum and stars of books that I am listing. A rare opportunity to acquire such a fabulous and well documented bear. Thanks for looking.
