Sad Nellie | 1930’s Norah Wellings Elephant w/ Label
Introducing Sad Nellie. I’m going to get straight to the point. She needs to either be loved as she is, or given some tlc! She’s a really lovely little thing but if tlc would be done, she would have her missing eye replaced back of one ear patched up, and tusks and tail reinstated. She would be very rewarding as she’s a very cute elephant!
Info; She was made by Norah Wellings in the 1930’s. Norah Wellings didn’t actually make many animals so it’s really lovely to see Nellie. I imagine back then Elephants were rather magical to everyone – especially little people.
Although she is a little worn (as above) she is clean and retains her Norah Welling label to her foot!
She’s softly stuffed with kapok, and measures around 8.5 x 7 inches. She’s covered in a biscuit flecked mohair and retains an original glass eye.
When i look at Nellie i very clearly see a little ones best friend, she got taken to all the best places, and lost some parts along the way – but was still loved as she’s still here today almost 90 years on! She would make a lovely addition to a home, and i really hope the right new owner finds her .. she is honestly rather cute.
Please note, this item is not a toy, and is suitable for adult collectors only.
